Revitalize Your Body And Mind

Body and mind exhaustion can be linked to several factors such as a heavy day at the office, sleep deprivation, a full stomach, stress, anxiety or mood swings. However, exercise is a great way to re-energize your mind, body and soul.

PROACTIVE MEASURES: If you’re feeling tired or lethargic. rehydration salts, natural juices or water can boost your energy levels before working out. Also, deep breathing can rejuvenate your system, by refreshing your lungs and mind. 

EXERCISES THAT RE-ENERGIZE YOUR BODY AND MIND
Zumba: Dancing to your favourite music can revitalize your mood on a sluggish day - you can find plenty of dance inspired videos on Youtube. In fact, why not call some friends and exercise as a group!
Laughing Exercise: Laughter therapy is one of the best ways to improve your mood, as it stimulates both the mind and body. Pick your favourite sitcom and try to laugh as much as possible. Or, watch some funny animal videos on Youtube. This may sound unconventional, but is a great way to reinvigorate your mind, body and soul.
Pilates: This is a great exercise which not only strenghtehns your core, but also eases your mind. Ask your coach or a personal trainer for a few exercises that will challenge your core strength. Or pop down to Form Training at Ocean Keys - they have all of equipment required for Pilates/
Stretching:  A long day at the office calls for stretching. Stretching not only relaxes your muscles, but also your mind. Stretches such as leg extensions, where you stretch your leg out to one side of the body, are great for stretching your hip reflexes. Other great stretches include:

  • Neck rotation
  • Shoulder stretches
  • Downward dog
Yoga:  Yoga does wonders to your body and mind, as it activates all body parts and revitalizes their function. If you’re a beginner, ask a qualified Yoga Instructor at your local health club about how to perform simple poses at home, or join a class to learn.  As Yoga is an ocean of body-mind exercises, start with simple meditation such as:
  • Pranayama, awareness of breathing
  • Hatha yoga, a type of yoga that primarily focuses on the calmness of mind and body
  • Ashtanga yoga
