Body and mind exhaustion can be linked to several factors such as a heavy day at the office, sleep deprivation, full stomach, stress, anxiety or mood swings. However, exercise is a great way to re-energize your body and mind.
PROACTIVE MEASURES: If you’re feeling tired or lethargic oral rehydration salts, natural juices or water can boost your energy levels before working out. Also, deep breathing can activate your system, by refreshing your lungs and mind. It’s kind of rejuvenating. You don’t have to go for circuit anaerobic exercises. You can do it on your bed or on your couch.
EXERCISES THAT RE-ENERGIZE YOUR BODY AND MIND
Zumba Dance: Dancing to your favourite music can revitalize you on a sluggish day - social media has plenty of Zumba inspired dance videos. Plus, why not call some friends and exercise as a group!
Laughing Exercise: Laughter therapy is one of the most unsung forms of exercise, as it stimulates both the mind and body. Pick your favourite comedy program and try to laugh as much as possible. Or, try to laugh as much as you can as funny as you can and ask your group mates to imitate the same. This may sound unconventional, but is a great way to reinvigorate your mind, body and soul.
Pilates: This is another great exercise which aims to strengthen your mind, body and soul. Ask your coach or a personal trainer for a few exercises that will challenge your core strength. Form Training at Ocean Keys have plenty of equipment required for Pilates.
Stretching: A long day at the office calls for stretching, that not only relaxes your muscles, but also your Stretches such as leg extensions, where your stretch your leg out to one side of the body, are great for stretching your hip reflexes. Other great stretches include:
Yoga: Yoga does wonders to your body and mind. Yoga activate all body parts and revitalize their function. If you’re a beginner, ask a qualified Yoga Instructor at your local health club about how to perform simple poses at home, or join a class to learn. As yoga is an ocean of body-mind exercises, start with simple meditation such as:
- Neck rotation
- Shoulder stretches – anterior and posterior
- Downward dog
- Pranayama, awareness of breathing
- Hatha yoga, a type of yoga that primarily focuses on the calmness of mind and body
- Ashtanga yoga
You can ask your coach or your Yoga Instructor to elaborate on different types of Yoga, or search for Yoga pose demonstrations via You Tube.
