Meet Samrith and Sarah from Small Asian Cafe

Tell us about your restaurant:
We are a family owned business, with a passion for Asian Cuisine.  We, the Small Asian Café, aim to serve our community the most decadent and delicious Asian meals possible.  With plenty of mouth-watering choices, we have a huge range of rice and noodle dishes, as well as our special Fried Ice Cream dessert.


What is your position at Small Asian Cafe and how big is your team?
There are two of us (partners) and we both are cooks.  Our team is small - there are 5 of us (3 students who are working casually).


What are the most popular dishes right now?
The most popular dishes are Pad Thai Seafood, Barramundi Fish with our cafe signature sauce, Chicken Green Curry and Beef Basil.  All can be served with jasmine rice or noodles.


What is the most unusual or funny request you have had from a customer?
The most unusual request was ordering a spicy salad and asking for it not to be spicy and with no dressing!

How long have you been in the food industry and what inspired you to pursue this career?
We both have been in this food industry for over 20 years.  We love cooking and meeting customers as well as making friends with them.

What is the best part about your job?
We are more into Asian food innovation and fusion.  We like to try different food cuisines and adapting Asian tastes into them.


When you’re not at the store, what do you like to do in your spare time?
We both would spend time with our family and we both will be eating out and trying out different dishes across Perth’s cafes and restaurants.
